Victoria resident sentenced for failing to file tax returns

Randall Scott Bethel was sentenced earlier this month in B.C. provincial court.

A Victoria resident has been fined $2,000 and given six months to pay the fine for failing to file personal income tax in 2010 and 2011.

When taxpayers are convicted of failing to file tax returns, in addition to any fines imposed by the courts, they must still file the returns and pay the full amount of taxes owing, plus interest owed, as well as any civil penalties that may be assessed by Canada Revenue Agency.
