Anti-violence conference hits Victoria

Hundreds of Greater Victoria students will be participating in violence prevention workshops

Hundreds of Greater Victoria students will be participating in violence prevention workshops this week as part of the national Week Without Violence.

The third annual Power of Being a Girl conference, hosted locally by the YWCA of Greater Victoria, hosts one-day conferences for girls ages 12-17.

The first conference takes place Wednesday (Oct. 16) at the Military Family Resource Centre in Colwood, while the second conference is all day Thursday (Oct. 17) at the downtown Y.

Workshops and guest speakers will focus on topical like self-esteem, healthy relationships, body image, financial literacy and fitness.
