With dating apps and online matchmaking services, it seems that in-person meet-cutes are increasingly rare. But heading into Valentine’s Day, the “missed connections” section of Craigslist Victoria is still going strong.

More than 35 people took to Craigslist this month to share their Greater Victoria encounters in the city Amazon named the most romantic in Canada, in hopes that their “missed connection” might see the post and get in touch.

Here are some of the best Greater Victoria “missed connections” from January 2019.

Cute cyclist girl unlocking bike (Jan. 28 at 4 p.m. Fort Street and Oak Bay Avenue junction)

I was stopped at the intersection in my silver Subaru Forester. Your smile was glowing and eye contact held between us. I hope I can get a chance to talk to you next time.

Beautiful woman with Whiskas bag (Jan. 16 at Spelt’s restaurant)

You came into Spelt’s carrying bag of Whiskas dry cat food. You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. I regret not talking to you but I was breathless. I would like to get to know you and have a coffee together.

You are hot! (Jan. 30 at Oak Bay Rec. gym)

We work out around the same time, last time was yesterday, Tuesday. I’m pretty sure we’re checking each other out. You were working your chest and legs yesterday. We used a few of the same equip. You wore dark shorts. I don’t wear underwear under my grey sweats or black shorts and I think you notice. I’m interested too. You’re hot.

Tucker’s dad at Goldstream Park (Jan. 29)

Not sure how else to find you and thought I would give this a try…

You moved here from the North Shore three years ago and our paths crossed on a trail at Goldstream Park on Jan. 29. I was hiking with my daughter and you were out with your dog, Tucker. I am not sure what your situation is but, if you happen to see this it would be nice to chat with you again.

My dog (Jan. 19 in West Victoria)

You stopped in your car and commented on my dog … I wish we could’ve chatted more :) What kind of dog was it?

Cute girl rerouting traffic at construction site this morning (Jan. 11 at Gordon Head Road)

I was wearing my reflective vest and waiting for the 27 bus. You were managing traffic with a stop/slow sign. We made eye contact. I wrote my phone number down on a piece of paper. But before I could give it to you, you moved further away from me doing your work and my bus arrived. If you would like to grab a coffee sometime, respond to this post and kindly email me. I think you look cute!

Aquaman (Jan. 1 at 6:45 p.m. at West Shore Cinema )

You were the blonde sitting in front of me. My friend and I joked around with you and your friends throughout the movie. We were walking out and I wanted to ask you for coffee but didn’t get the chance with your friends there. But maybe this will find you and I will get that chance?
