Croquet takes over Victoria lawn bowling green

Annual tournament behind the Crystal Garden is open to the public

The fourth annual Victoria Day Open croquet tournament takes over the greens at the Canadian Pacific Lawn Bowling Club this weekend.

The event, running 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, features singles and doubles play.

Players will vie for the Carnes Cup (high-scoring team) and Hal Sisson Trophy (top singles player) and are encouraged to wear their finest “Victorian” attire to mark the weekend.

The public is welcome to come down and watch the games. The lawn bowling club is located behind the Crystal Garden at Belleville and Douglas streets.
