Celebrating one of the largest gifts to a school west of Ontario, Glenlyon Norfolk School has unveiled Denford Hall.
Formally known as The Hall at Pemberton Woods, the new name is recognition of a $5,000,000 seed-donation gifted to GNS by the Denford family. 280 people gathered to celebrate the gift at a ceremony on Dec. 4.
The money will be the foundation of a funding campaign scheduled to launch in October 2019, and will fund transformations at both Beach Drive and Pemberton Woods campuses.

Deputy Head of School, Chad Holtum, didn’t know how much the total project would cost, but he expects the campaign to be big.“It will be both capital and non capital. Donors can direct donations within the project, and we’ll also have non capital options as well,” said Holtum. “Additional naming opportunities, bursaries, and scholarships will be available”.
Even though GNS is still sorting final details of their funding, phase one is underway at Beach Drive.
By spring GNS’s youngest students will have access to new junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten facilities, while the whole campus will enjoy a renovated boat house.
The first phase of the project will be the Beach Drive campus, and will include a new main block. GNS hopes to have phase one completed in two years, at which time the second phase will commence at Pemberton Woods. Temporary classrooms have been erected at Beach Drive during the improvements.
