A double drop off appears again post-holidays in Oak Bay.

The drive-thru bottle drive instituted by the 5th Garry Oak Scouts due to COVID-19 protocols in January was so popular, they’re bringing it back early next year.

“We didn’t know what support we would get, it was one of the best bottle drives ever,” said leader Michael Cunliffe.

The scouts plan to send out flyers in the days leading up to the contactless drop off set for Jan. 2, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the scout hall on Monterey Avenue.

The drop-off coincides with the second day of Oak Bay fire’s Christmas tree recycling program.

Staff from Bartlett Tree Experts will be on hand to chip trees Jan. 1 and 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the fire hall, 1703 Monterey Ave., to benefit Oak Bay Firefighters Charitable Foundation. Recycling is by donation, with proceeds going toward the foundation’s Oak Bay High bursary program.
