Esquimalt community garden celebrates growth, harvest

This summer, the garden in Anderson Park expanded by eight plots

After a successful second growing season, the Esquimalt Community Garden Society held its fall harvest barbecue Saturday.

This summer, the garden in Anderson Park expanded by eight plots, for a total of 20.

The gardeners have expanded in other ways too. Classes from both Esquimalt High and école Victor-Brodeur have gotten involved, said volunteer communications director Michael Lenaghan.

Also new are free workshops on subjects such as seed saving and winter gardening. Up next, the group is planning a workshop on restoration of native plants.
