The spread of influenza is slowly declining in western Canada, but Greater Victorians are not out of the woods yet.

The Public Health Agency of Canada reported a slight decline in cases after reaching a peak last week. The agency reports sporadic activity on the Island.

The flu season typically starts in the fall is expected to last until May.

Researchers in the journal Euro Surveillance report this year’s vaccine is 72 per cent effective against Influenza A(H1N1)pdm00, which makes up 98 per cent of cases detected by laboratories around Canada.

There is still time to get the flu shot at the following locations in Greater Victoria if you haven’t yet.
