Foster families sought for puppies

The Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind is looking for good homes for its new litter of puppies.

Foster families will have all expenses paid in exchange for raising a puppy for 12 to 18 months.

The job requires the temporary owner to be home for most of the day, or have permission to take the dog to work; to have a vehicle for veterinary appointments and training sessions; and to take the dog on long daily walks.

Foster families must be prepared to give up the dog so it can start its formal training at the National Training Centre of Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind.

It takes up to two years to train a guide dog.
