Oak Bay’s Ney straps on blades for fundraiser

It’ll be a grudge match between municipalities on the ice at Esquimalt Archie Browning Sports Centre this Tuesday (Feb. 22).

Coun. Tara Ney, representing Oak Bay, will skate against Victoria Coun. Phillipe Lucas and Colwood Mayor Dave Saunders in the Esquimalt Speed Skating Club’s second Annual Race-a-Thon.

The winner of the two-lap race around the rink will gain bragging rights until next year.

The Race-a-Thon runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friendly bets on the race, in the form of donations to the club – the only speedskating organization in the four core municipalities – will be accepted at the rink.
