The Cattle Point Dark Skies park proved its value for at least one photographer this week.
James MacKenzie captured a hint of the hues of aurora borealis (or northern lights) from the Oak Bay waterfront park early Friday morning.

The popular picnic and birdwatching destination was designated was designated a Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) Urban Star Park in 2013, in partnership with the District of Oak Bay.
One of only two in Canada, members of RASC Victoria Centre use it frequently to view celestial objects and events.
