The new 25-metre zip line at the redesigned Cook Street Playground in Beacon Hill Park proved popular with students from South Park elementary at the park opening last week.

Not only did students get to try it out, some got a chance to push Mayor Dean Fortin for his ride on the apparatus.

The park was designed with the input of the public and South Park students. It features a playground for ages 18 months to 12 years, as well as a new fitness circuit for people 15 and over.

Located next to the playground, the circuit gives parents a chance to work out next to the kids. The nine stations include low-impact cardio cross-trainers, an abdominal body flexer, recumbent bike, sit-up bench, leg lift station, chin and pull-up bar and core and upper body training.
