Churchmouse Bookshop is ready to help those looking to build a summer stack for reading.

The Oak Bay second-hand store hosts its annual summer sale June 8 with thousands of books up for grabs and a festive vibe including live music, food and a chance to meet local community groups.

With a focus on Celebrating All Things Green, groups on hand include the Community Association of Oak Bay and UVic’s Living Lab and their revision of the Oak Bay Community Green Map as well as the Vancouver Island Trail Association.

Book browsers will find a wide collection of pre-owned titles in excellent condition – thousands of them, on the shelves, on tables, and in the pews, each with its own story to tell, plus a wide selection of pre-owned puzzles of all kinds. Book lovers can also participate in a silent auction for some of the more rare and valuable books in the Churchmouse collection.

The Churchmouse Bookshop – which is also open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – takes in used books in great condition and provides them to new owners in return for cash donations in support of the Oak Bay church’s charity efforts – primarily The Food Bank at St. John the Divine, Threshold Housing Society and Our Place Society.

While community members provide live music, the food lineup includes pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs and beverages.

The sale at 1701 Elgin Road is Saturday (June 8) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
