Victoria Day Parade deadline looms for potential entries

May long weekend affair attracts thousands to downtown Victoria streets

One of Canada’s longest-running parades is seeking more participants.

The 115th Island Farms Victoria Day Parade has already signed up many businesses, floats and 20 high school marching bands for the May 20 event, but spaces are still available, organizer Ron Butlin said.

“We get about 145 entries every year,” he said. “We’ll always take more marching bands, they’re a crowd favourite.”

Last year, the parade drew an estimated 65,000 attendees along Douglas Street. To register for the parade, call Butlin at 250-382-3111.
