Victoria library chosen for e-book pilot project

More than 1,000 titles available for lending in high-tech pilot project

The Greater Victoria Public Library is partnering with 3M for an e-book pilot project that will make more than 1,000 titles available for lending.

GVPL is one of 10 libraries in Canada running the 3M Cloud Library project, which allows library card holders to download e-books to their computer, e-reader or mobile phones for up to 21 days.

“Users will truly enjoy how simple and convenient it is to borrow books from the library through services like this," said Anne Parker, GVPL’s digital collections co-ordinator.

Users need only download the 3M Cloud Library app and enter their library card information.

The library's existing OverDrive e-book lending service will also continue, Parker said.
