A Victoria resident got a nice gift just before the holidays.

Jeanette Perks was shocked after winning $47,849 on a Nov. 27 Lotto 6/49 draw.

“I scanned it and thought, ‘wait a minute, this can’t be real,’” she said. “It was a blur, I was shaking and freaking out.”

Perks purchased her ticket from the Douglas Street Rexall and was at home when she found out about her win.

“I kept re-scanning the ticket and had to tell my daughter. She was in shock.”

The local winner plans on saving her prize money.
