Sidney’s Mary Winspear Centre was home to people who enjoy dressing as their favourite super heroes, comic book stars and video game characters — and the people who love the spectacle of it all.

The first Van Isle Comic Con was on Sunday, June 11 and filled the community hub with vendors, comic artists, game developers, writers, artisans and animators. The main hall was packed with people checking out the interesting creative products being put out in the Greater Victoria Region and further afield.

By many accounts, the day-long event was a success, culminating in a cosplay costume contest — with some photos from that event included here — and a presentation by Oscar-award-winning director of animated films, Chris Williams.

Other photo collections and video from the event can be found on the PNR’s Facebook page.
