Sunny Tuesday nights filled with music in the park is becoming a summertime tradition in Saanich.
Music in the Park returns July 4 when Impulse Response brings their funky soul sounds to Goward House, 2495 Arbutus Rd. The Tuesday night series continues July 11 with Younger Than Yesterday (British, classic rock) performing at Majestic Park, 4380 Majestic Dr.
The popular program, which takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. at various parks in the community, features a lineup of BackBeat (’60s, British invasion) July 18 at Beckwith Park, 857 Beckwith Ave.; Rock of Ages (classic rock) July 25 at Hyacinth Park, 700 Marigold Rd.; Freeze Frame (’80s cover tunes) Aug. 1 at Brydon Park, end of Viewmont Avenue; Chick Wagon Band (country/folk) Aug. 8 at Rutledge Park, Inverness and Cloverdale; Demographix (classic rock) Aug. 15 at Rutledge Park; and Tight Hair (disco) Aug. 22 at Rudd Park, 3259 Irma St.
For those who prefer their music with an ocean view, Music in the Bay returns to Cadboro-Gyro Park Thursday nights.
The one-hour 6 p.m. performances on the shores of Cadboro Bay will feature 36 Strings (Celtic, folk, world) June 22; Rob Fillo (folk, blues, rock) June 29; Carmen Rodriguez De France (Mexican folk) July 6; The Anishinaabe Mitchell Sisters (folk/originals) July 13; Piacella (Celtic, jazz, pop) July 20; Monteray Hula Dance Club July 27; Uminari Taiko (Taiko drumming) Aug. 3; Lelolai (Latin infusion) Aug. 10; Edie DaPonte (jazz, world music) Aug. 17; Two Wheeler (roots, folk) Aug. 24; and Brandy Moore (folk, pop, soul) Aug. 31.
