On the night before Christmas (and on the 23rd), carols and stories could be heard through Victoria.

Melville Jones will be joined by the Vox Humana Chamber Choir as he reads the holiday classic A Child’s Christmas in Wales. It’s the ninth annual performance of the traditional tale in Victoria.

Born and raised in South Wales, narrator Jones brings the tale to life. A Child’s Christmas in Wales was originally written for BBC Radio by poet Dylan Thomas, and recorded in 1952.

All ages are welcome to the Dec. 23 and 24 performances at 2:30 p.m. The 23rd will also have a second reading at 7:30 p.m. Both shows on Dec. 23 will be hosted at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, while the 24th will be held at the Alix Goolden Performance Hall.

Tickets are by donation.
