Are you young, cheap, but used to the good life? Are you thinking of leaving on a jet plane, crossing the Atlantic or (Insert Ocean Here) for Europe and it’s trendiest cities?

You’ll need to know where to look for lodging, especially since the different between a great hostel and an average hostel can truly mean the different between a great trip and just an average getaway.

So, a big thanks to Hostel Bookers, who last week published their list of 2014’s Best Hostels and Hotels. The results are below, with Portugal not surprisingly placing often and placing high for Western Europe. Eastern Europe went three ways – with Russia, Hungary, and Bosnia all taking the podium.

I have copied the list below for Europe, and have added the top three for the other continents, too. Because, why not?

Also, here’s a link to Hostel World’s 2014 HOSCARS – in which, once again, Lisbon and Porto ruled the roost.
