A poorly stored propane tank is likely to blame for a blast and fire that broke out Sunday in Victoria.
Victoria firefighters were called out Dec. 17 around 1p.m. and were greeted by a fully involved van fire near Pandora Avenue and Chambers Street.
“One occupant was injured by the blast, suffering small burns to his face, hands and ankles,” Victoria fire said in a post online.
Paramedics treated the man on scene, then took him to the hospital for further treatment.

His dog who was in the vehicle with him was unhurt.
The fire department says a poorly stored propane tank appears to have been the cause of the fire.
“This sad story is a cautionary tale to take proper care when using propane in confined spaces. Our heart goes out to the owner of the vehicle, losing so much at this time of year can not be easy,” the post reads.
