The festivities of the Oak Bay street market kicks offs to the tunes of Nice Verdes on Wednesday (June 12) evening.

The first Oak Bay Village Night Market of the year is June 12 with nearly 100 vendors offering the broadest range of offerings in the market’s history, said organizer Heather Leary.

The market fills Oak Bay Avenue from municipal hall to Monterey Avenue the second Wednesday of each month through September.

Vendors include fresh produce to preserved goods such as sauces, salad dressings and condiments to baked goods ranging from bread to macarons.

In the non-edible category, several jewellers, potters and artisans making a variety of housewares will appear alongside sales of personal care products such as soaps and bath treats.

Each of the monthly markets in Oak Bay features local musicians with Nice Verdes performing 4 to 6 p.m. followed by Kafoozalum from 6 to 8 p.m. A variety of family activities fill the front lawn of municipal hall including games, a photo booth and crafts.

Rob Fillo performs at the Monterey Recreation Centre which is open from 5 to 7 p.m. with public seating and washroom access.

The return of the Oak Bay Village Night Market means the return of Wine in the Courtyard, the Cork & Barrel Spirit Merchants festival of wine, beer and spirits. With no charge to drop in, more than 25 vendors will be set up in the courtyard around the store showing what’s new for the season.

Markets will also be held July 10, Aug. 14 and Sept. 11.
