SIDNEY — Improved BC Transit services to West Sidney and to the east-west connections on the Saanich Peninsula are the subjects of two public open houses later this month and in March.
BC Transit is considering improvements to bus service on routes 81 (Brentwood Bay/Sidney/Swartz Bay), 83 (Sidney/Brentwood Bay/Royal Oak) and 88 (Airport/Sidney).
A new route is also being considered to “enhance service to the Dean Park neighbourhood, connecting it to existing regional routes and key destinations.”
BC Transit, in a statement, also points to possible improvements to the weekend service on route 85 North Saanich “and general enhancements to service” to West Sidney, the industrial area, Saanich Peninsula Hospital and “various Peninsula shopping destinations.”
“Feedback gathered through these public consultations will help BC Transit to develop its service plan for fall 2018.”
The first open house takes place Wed., Feb. 28 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney (10030 Resthaven Drive).
The second is Thurs., March 1 in the boardroom at Panorama Recreation Centre (1885 Forest Park Drive) from 5 to 7 p.m.
