A Friday (May 17) afternoon shed fire filled two Victoria streets with firefighters and vehicles, but crews kept damage to nearby homes to a minimum.

Numerous 911 calls drew firefighters to a fully involved fire in the 3100 block of Somerset shortly before 3 p.m.

The incident called for an entire platoon response, Victoria fire said in a social media post.

When crews arrived, the fire had begun to affect the primary residence and a neighbouring home.

“With flames hot enough to break the windows of the house and high enough to spread to the roof structure, fire crews had their work cut out for them,” Victoria fire said.

Crews attached the fire from multiple sides and put down in just over two hours.

While the investigation is ongoing, the cause does not appear suspicious.

“If not for the quick response and effective coordinated attack, this fire would have no doubt resulted in much more property damage and the displacement of multiple residents,” the post reads.
