Forty-five years serving Vancouver Island… who would have thought that Dodd’s Furniture and Mattress would have the opportunity to do that? Gordy Dodd thought that… that’s who!
You’ve got to see his commercials – they are legendary! And if you ever get the chance to ask him about them, he always has a little smile when he talks about them.
He would tell you that he’d rather be known as the guy who loves living on the Island and he just loves helping the communities he started working in, any chance he gets. Whether it’s for food, blanket or coat drives, or serving Thanksgiving or Christmas dinners, the Dodd family loves being a part of the community.
“My mother taught us at an early age, one’s blessings come from helping others. That’s why I cherish any opportunity to pay it forward,” Gordy says.
His love of making people happy is what most who know him will tell you about him… oh, and the love of selling quality furniture at incredible prices. It actually is one of his true passions. That, and being involved on the Island that has brought him such joy for over those 45 years.
Gordy loves Nanaimo so much that he decided to open the family’s most ambitious project to date, with the newest Dodd’s Furniture and Mattress store at 4900 Uplands Dr.
Love Dodd, president of Dodd’s, was excited to add that, “Dodd’s Nanaimo has the largest ‘Sleep Gallery’ and diversity of mattresses in the city. There truly is a mattress for everybody at our store.”
“We wanted to give the people of Nanaimo the ability to get all the best furniture and an incredible selection of mattresses they wouldn’t normally see,” added Gordy. “There are close to 40 of the best mattresses in the country that can be found on our showroom floor.”
