Run the scenic Esquimalt 5K! Enjoy ocean views, parks and cherry blossoms. Join the 1K Fun Run at 9 AM, then run the 5k race at 9:30!

Whether you are a walker, para-athlete or elite runner, you're invited to kick off the spring race season at the Esquimalt 5K April 5.

Presented by Lab Health Physio and professionally timed by Startline Timing, this scenic 5K and 1K Kids’ Fun Run takes participants through Esquimalt's picturesque streets and waterfront parks.

Participants of all experience levels will enjoy stunning mountain and ocean views as they run through Macaulay and Saxe Point parks before returning along blossom-lined streets to the Archie Browning Sports Centre.

Sign your kids up for the 9 a.m. 1K Fun Run, then participate in the Esquimalt 5K at 9:30 a.m. The 5K route is designed to be fast, starting with a gentle downhill toward the ocean before looping back to the sports centre.

“The Esquimalt 5K isn’t just a race; it’s a celebration of community spirit, health and vitality," says Meghan Nicklin, Esquimalt Recreation Coordinator. "With its scenic route and inclusive atmosphere, it’s an event not to be missed!”

After the race, join the Esquimalt Parks and Recreation team at the Archie Browning Sports Centre for light refreshments, a kids' zone featuring a bouncy castle, games for all ages and prize draws.

Registration Fees:

  • 5K Run/Walk: $30 until March 15, $40 from March 16 to April 5
  • 1K Kids’ Fun Run: $6

Participants are also eligible for exciting door prizes!

Volunteers play a crucial role in making the Esquimalt 5K a success, Nicklin notes. Sign up individually, with a friend or as a team-building activity and be part of the fun! Email fitness@esquimalt.ca for more details.
