Campbell River woman hurt during violent break-in

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. — The RCMP say a woman was seriously injured and a man was in custody following a break-in at a home in Campbell River, B.C.

Staff Sgt. Troy Beauregard says in a news release that the incident happened early Monday morning and it was not a random event.

He says police responding to reports of a disturbance entered the home through a damaged door and found an injured woman and a 42-year-old man inside.

Police say the man was arrested and the woman was taken to hospital for treatment of serious wounds caused by a weapon.

Police did not say what the weapon was.

The RCMP say the man was under conditions not to visit the home.

He was in custody facing numerous charges.
