A pro-marijuana protestor attends a smoke-in on the lawns in front of Ottawa's Parliament Hill

4/20 celebrated in Canada’s capital (VIDEO)

More than 2,000 gathered for a smoke-in and pro-pot protest on the lawn in front of Ottawa's Parliament Hill on April 20, 2014.

  • Apr. 21, 2014 8:00 p.m.

Pro-marijuana protestors peacefully crowded the lawns in front of Ottawa’s Parliament Hill on Sunday – 2,000 strong to light up, smoke up, and enjoy 4/20 in Canada with the sounds of Buffalo Springfield as a soundtrack.

“This is an annual event that’s always been held in a peaceful manner,” said Cpl. Lucy Shorey of the RCMP, in the video above. “Usually at 4:20 p.m. here, protestors will be exercising their right to light up, if you want, I guess. Our prime concern here is that this event is held in a safe and secure manner.”
