Bridge brawl ends badly for two

A man walking across the Blue Bridge into Vic West was punched in the face by one man, then gang-beaten by the attacker’s friends, Victoria police say.

The 34-year-old was coming home from the bar when he was knocked down by six or seven men and women near the rail depot. He later told police he was head-stomped.

The man was able to run away and was helped by witnesses who called police.

Demian Diablo, 32, was arrested on the Victoria side of the bridge. He matched the description the other man gave of the one who punched him.

Diablo is charged with  assault, breach of undertaking for prior offences and possession, as police found marijuana on him.

The 34-year-old man sustained chipped teeth, cuts and bruises in the attack.
