Business helps nab alleged gang

Five members of the Deacon Gang, have been arrested in Victoria

Five members of the Deacon Gang, which police say has been operating on the Lower Mainland for about 10 years, have been arrested for allegedly stealing “racks of clothing” from at least eight downtown Victoria businesses, said Victoria police spokesperson Const. Mike Russell.

Sweet Nancy’s staff reported the theft Saturday afternoon. Three hours later Sidney RCMP nabbed the group - including a mother and daughter - at the Swartz Bay ferry terminal. More than $30,000 in clothing was recovered from the group’s seized van.
