A 20-year-old Saanich driver is without his car after he was clocked travelling 160 km/h on the Trans-Canada Highway.
A Saanich police traffic safety officer spotted the black Acura RSX travelling north on Douglas Street at a high rate of speed around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
It took the officer nearly 10 kilometres before he was able to safely pull the driver over – at Millstream Road in Langford.
“This driver was seen to tailgate, he made multiple lane changes, he cut off the (undercover) patrol vehicle,” said Sgt. Dean Jantzen. “He was driving in a dangerous and erratic manner.”
The 20-year-old Saanich man was issued two tickets – excessive speeding and making an unsafe lane change – worth $592 total, and the Acura was impounded.
The officer also learned the driver had two previous licence suspension. The Office of the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles is investigating.
