Centennial Park resident taken away by VicPD

Protester allegedly breached court order to not reside in public spaces

A lesson learned by protesters during Occupy Victoria has apparently not been heeded by a man Victoria police describe as "a long-time Victoria area protester."

A 39-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested by officers in Centennial Square on Thursday (Feb. 2) at 2 p.m.

The man had violated court-ordered conditions by setting up a tent under a large Sequoia tree at the square on Sunday (Jan. 29), Victoria police Const. Mike Russell said.

The man's name is being withheld until charges can be sworn against him in Victoria court on Friday (Feb. 3).
