Cherry trees needed for picking

LifeCycle’s Fruit Tree Project collects fruit for more than 40 community agencies

The search is on for cherry trees in need of picking in Greater Victoria.

LifeCycle’s Fruit Tree Project works with teams of volunteers to transform fruit that would otherwise go to waste into a source of food for the community.

Mustard Seed, Blanshard Community Centre and Victoria Brain Injury Society are just some of the 40 community agencies that benefit from the donations. The rest of the fruit is split between volunteer pickers, tree owners and the Fruit Tree Project.

Last year, volunteers harvested more than 18,000 kilograms of fruit.

Property owners who have a cherry tree they would like to share its bounty this summer, please contact LifeCycle’s Fruit Tree Project online at lifecyclesproject.ca.
