The City of Victoria is seeking nominations for a new youth poet laureate.

The City of Victoria is seeking nominations for a new youth poet laureate.

Created in 2013 by the Victoria Youth Council, the youth poet laureate is responsible for reaching out to vulnerable youth and encouraging peer to peer education and inspiration through new works, and by developing a community youth poetry event.

The position is an honorary one-year-term position from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2017, and will include a $1,750 honorarium, $1,000 in project funding, and a year-long mentorship with the city’s current poet laureate Yvonne Blomer.

The deadline to submit a nomination is Monday, Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. Info: victoria.ca.
