Crash shuts down two busy Saanich roads

Saanich police said Wilkinson and Helmcken roads are closed between Holland and Interurban roads until 10 p.m.

Two busy Saanich roads were shut down Sunday afternoon, after a serious collision that was expected to take until 10 p.m. to clear up.

Saanich police said Wilkinson and Helmcken roads are closed between Holland and Interurban roads after a Pontiac Sunfire collided with a tow truck around 4:30 p.m., March 4.

Firefighters were called to the scene to help extract the driver of the Sunfire, who was then taken to hospital.

The extent of the driver’s injuries are not known at this time. The tow truck driver was not injured.

The collision occurred near the intersection of Helmcken Road and Lidgate Crescent.
