'Creepy' stranger attempts to lure female jogger in Oak Bay

Nineteen-year-old woman ran to safety

Oak Bay Police responded after a man attempted to lure a female jogger into his vehicle Saturday (June 28).

Around noon, a 19 year old woman was jogging on Cadboro Bay Road near Oak Bay High school when a man she later described as white in his late 40's, with salt and pepper hair, a high forehead and a thin build, wearing a plaid shirt and jeans, stopped and exited his vehicle. He opened the passenger door for the girl as she came toward his truck and made some sexually explicit comments in a "creepy way." The vehicle was described as a low-slung, blue pickup truck in rough condition. The young woman was unable to get a licence plate number.

She continued running and called police when she got home. There was no sign of the man after a search of the area and other area police departments were advised. The investigation and further inquiries are ongoing.
