Early-morning traffic stop nets loaded handgun, cocaine in Vic West

Three men from Greater Victoria face firearms, drugs charges after routine stop

Victoria police discovered a loaded handgun and cocaine during a traffic stop early this morning on Esquimalt Road near Dalton Street.

Around 2 a.m., a VicPD sergeant pulled over the driver of a vehicle with mechanical defects, and became suspicious when none of the vehicle's three occupants could produce identification.

"The occupants were detained for the investigation and officers conducted a safety search," said VicPD Const. Mike Russell. "It was at that time that a loaded .25-calibre handgun was located under the driver’s seat."

Three men – from Saanich, Langford and Oak Bay – all in their 20s, were arrested and face firearms and other charges.
