Esquimalt inks Gorge deal with province

A section of the Gorge Waterway that stretches along the shore of Kinsmen Gorge Park will continue to be under Esquimalt’s control.

The municipality recently agreed to a $1 deal for a 30-year lease with the province. The agreement gives the township control of the approximately five-hectare-long adjoining strip of water. It’s the third time Esquimalt has agreed to this since it was first offered the land in 1960.

Costs related to the lease run just over $200.
