A 42-year-old man from Esquimalt is facing two charges of child exploitation.
The Victoria Police Department’s Internet Child Exploitation Investigator became aware of someone on March 29, 2017 who was allegedly sharing child sexual abuse videos.
“These extremely graphic videos were determined to meet the definition of Child Pornography pursuant to the Criminal Code. After investigators determined where the computer user was located, a search warrant was obtained,” a press release said.
The search warrant was executed in Esquimalt on Dec. 5. Officers from the Special Victims Unit, Community Services Division, Integrated Tech Crimes Unit, Forensic Identification Section and Major Crime Detectives all attended the home, seizing 42 exhibits — pieces of evidence.
Since the search, the 42-year-old man was released on a promise to appear. The two charges police are recommending include possessing child pornography and making child pornography available.
