Esquimalt woman injured in violent break-in

An Esquimalt woman's head is swollen and her arms bruised and cut after a home invasion turned violent last weekend.

The 29-year-old woman was home alone at 1:25 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29 when someone knocked on her door in the 800 block of Parklands Drive. Cautiously she opened it to see a strange man outside, who seemed confused and said he needed to call someone.

When the woman reached for her phone to help, he grabbed her and pulled her outside by the hair. She was flung to the ground and against her house. She managed to get away, and ran to a neighbour's house to call the police.

Officers arrived to find all the doors to the woman's house locked. They broke in and found a 25-year-old man lying on the couch.
