Esquimalt man, 52, facing drugs and weapons charges

The Victoria Police Department is attributing four separate armed robberies to the work of one man, who police say is now in custody.

The first incident in early December involved a man who held up a business in the 2000-block of Douglas St. armed with a knife.

Since then, three similar robberies with matching suspect descriptions have occurred: Feb. 10 in the 500-block of Johnson St., Feb. 11 in the 800-block of Esquimalt Rd. and Feb. 14 in the 600-block of View St.

"The suspect is a strong person of interest in another robbery on Jan. 30, when a business in the 1800-block of Douglas St. was robbed," said Const. Mike Russell.

A 52-year-old Esquimalt man was arrested in the 900-block of Pandora St. on Thursday morning. He faces numerous weapon- and drug-related charges.
