A priceless family heirloom was stolen sometime this week from the front yard of a Saanich home.

The antique is a ship’s capstan from the 1880s. The top of it, which was stolen, is made of cast iron and has a design of an anchor with Rhode Island written on it. The capstan is originally from the American Ship Windlass Company.
