Hillside homicide preliminary hearing extended

Questioning into the death of Victoria man Joe Gauthier continues

The preliminary hearing into the death of a Victoria man has been extended.

For three days, prosecutor Jeni Gillings and defense attorney Kevin McCullough have questioned witnesses and addressed evidence in regards to the homicide of 35-year old Joe Gauthier.

Gauthier was killed on the early morning of March 10, 2018 in the 1400-block of Hillside Avenue.

The preliminary hearing, originally scheduled to wrap up on Wednesday, has since been adjourned and carried over to March 19, when a date is to be fixed for continuation.

Reasoning for the extension was not clear.

Due to a publication ban, details of the hearing cannot be released.
