Idling car leads Oak Bay police to find senior in distress

Driver ticketed $167 for failing to yield after a stop sign

A resident called police after noting a car idling in the neighbour’s driveway in Oak Bay on Boxing Day.

Police were called to Henderson Road and discovered the front door ajar, the TV on, and a large dog at the window – barking.

Police went inside and located 65-year-old man in distress. He was taken to hospital and the neighbour took care of the dog.

Stop sign fail leads to crash

A driver was ticketed for a failing to yield at a stop sign in a Dec. 20 crash at the intersection of Granite and Mitchell streets.

Police found one driver had collided into another vehicle, and was fined $167. Both vehicles had major damage and both drivers were driven home by police.

Christmas Eve cheque thief

An Oak Bay resident selling an item online is out $1,000 after a scammer offered a cheque that didn’t clear. Police are investigating the report on Dec. 24.

Good footage, no plate

Officers saw evidence of several infractions, but no suspect after someone stopped in to show them video on Dec. 24. The resident provided dash cam footage showing a driver committing multiple motor vehicle act infractions near Cadboro Bay Rd. and Beach Drive. The driver failed to stop at a stop sign and drove into oncoming traffic twice, police said. No plate was discernible in the video footage.
