Knife weapon of choice in Victoria hotel attack

Accused Victoria man lashes out at Good Samaritan during altercation

A 27-year-old Victoria man had a run in with the law after he was accused of stabbing an older man in his 50s.

Victoria police were called to a hotel at 3025 Douglas St. last Friday (Jan. 27) around 2:30 a.m.

A man and a woman had a heated argument when another man stepped in on behalf of the woman, said Const, Mike Russell, spokesperson for the Victoria Police Department. It was not known if the three were known to one another.

The men had words and the younger man allegedly attacked the older man with a knife. He was taken to hospital with superficial wounds to his torso.

The suspect in the case, who is known to police, was arrested and held for a telebail hearing Saturday. Police are recommending he be charged with assault causing bodily harm.

The suspect's name is not being released until charges are official sworn against him.
