Lead-foot motorists learn expensive lesson

More than 20 motorists were nabbed speeding in the vicinity of the Johnson Street Bridge at the height of Bike to Work Week on June 2.

In less than two hours, Victoria police ticketed drivers going 20 to 41 km/h in a 30 km/h zone.

While a worry to police and members of the Capital Regional District's traffic safety commission, no drivers were caught attempting to pass cyclists on Big Blue, said Chris Foord, commission chair.

The traffic enforcement team kept up a presence near the bridge in recent weeks to keep an eye on motorists and educate cyclists for Bike to Work Week.
