Liberals add two candidates to Greater Victoria election races

Candidate roster grows in Victoria-Beacon Hill and Malahat-Juan de Fuca ridings

With days to go before the official start of the 2013 provincial election campaign, the B.C. Liberals have nominated candidates in two NDP strongholds in Greater Victoria.

Karen Bill, who at age 22 finished a solid second for the Liberals behind the NDP's Gretchen Brewin back in 1991, returns to contest the Victoria-Beacon Hill riding in the May 14 election. Bill will hope to unseat sitting MLA and former NDP leader Carole James.

She is taking a leave of absence from her job as executive assistant to B.C. Minister of Aboriginal Relations Ida Chong, the sitting Oak Bay Gordon Head MLA.

Sooke Coun. Kerrie Reay, a 51-year-old project manager with B.C. Corrections, has been tabbed to run in Malahat-Juan de Fuca, where NDP MLA John Horgan holds the seat.

Bill's official nomination meeting happens tomorrow (April 12) at 5:30 p.m. at 105-1990 Fort St. Reay will get the official nod next Tuesday at 6 p.m. at 102A-3179 Jacklin Rd. in Colwood.
