More people are heading to live shows at theatres, as attendance increased at a number of entertainment venues last year.
More than 53,000 people attended shows at the McPherson Playhouse —an increase of 45 per cent compared to 2016.
Attendance at the Royal Theatre was also strong last year with almost 124,000 attendees, representing a four per cent increase from 2015. Combined the two theatres hosted 225 events last year.
Royal McPherson Theare Society executive director Lloyd Fitzsimonds said the increase in attendance can be attributed to the line up for shows, innovative parnterships and growing population base.
