Man surrenders after crisis negotiators called in

Police set up road blocks in area and evacuated immediate neighbours.

A man is in police custody after spending a night barricaded in his home.

At 11 p.m. Wednesday, Victoria police received a phone call about a man with a gun in the Oaklands neighbourhood.

Police arrived to the home in the 2700 block of Roseberry Ave, and were later joined by the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiators.

Police set up road blocks in area and evacuated immediate neighbours.

The man surrendered just before 8:45 a.m.

Police searched his home and found a replica handgun.

 

The man is facing potential weapons related charged and is in police custody.
