Mechanical difficulties with the Spirit of Vancouver Island will mean a juggled schedule this weekend on the main Vancouver Island ferry routes.

Eleven of the 57 sailings that would typically be scheduled Thursday, Friday and Sunday on the Tsawwassen-Schwartz Bay run have been cancelled.

In an attempt to compensate, two early morning Sunday sailings have been added to the Tsawwassen-Duke Point run. For the revised weekend schedule, click here.

The ferry corporation expects heavy traffic this weekend, particularly on the Tsawwassen run on Sunday afternoon. Passengers are advised to reserve and consider an earlier return. Go to the BC Ferries website for more information.

The Spirit of Vancouver Island is having problems with its port side pitch propeller. Repairs are expected to take about a week to complete.
